The Guide to the Best Food Around Oxford

My name is Gabby, and I studied abroad in Oxford this summer. I had such an amazing time and made the best memories. When I first got here, I was so nervous because I did not know where I was going. I wish I knew certain places to go before I came, especially places to eat, because it gets hard trying to find a place all of your friends want to eat at. So I decided to find the best places in Oxford to eat, to help people who come to Oxford know the best places to go.

Breakfast and Coffee

There are so many cafes around Oxford that have such good food. One of the most historic places to eat breakfast is the Vaults and Garden. It was built in the 1300s and is located in the university church. The cafe was originally used as the university’s original Congregation House, but eventually became too small, so now all the gatherings are in the Sheldonian Theatre. It is known for its vaulted ceilings and stone walls. The cafe offers a serene atmosphere. At the cafe, you can get breakfast and organic, global lunches.

I have only been to the Vaults and Garden once, but they had very yummy banana bread. One of my favorite places to go with my friends was Crepe Affaire. Obviously, from the name, you can figure out what they sell, but they have so many more options than Crepes. You can choose to have a sweet or savoury crepe, and they also offer many pastries. Their lattes are so good, when I go, I always get a Vanilla Chai Latte and it’s phenomenal. But if you do not like coffee, they offer delicious smoothies.

If you are just the type of person who gets coffee for breakfast, then I would recommend Nepa. Nepa has the best Chai Lattes in Oxford. Their Vanilla Chai Latte is to die for. They also offer so many different variations of coffee if you are not a Chai person like me. They also have very delicious pastries if you are on the go and want something with your coffee.

Lunch and Dinner

For Lunch or dinner, you can go to Turf Tavern. Turf Tavern is one of the oldest pubs in Oxford. It was built in the ditch, which is the moat outside the city wall. It was used as a gambling and betting place because it was not permitted inside the walls of the city. It is a great place if you wanna get drinks with your dinner.

The Covered Market dates back to the 1770s and is one of the oldest continuously operating markets in the country. It has so many different options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Covered Market was one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I would always go there for lunch in between my classes with my friends. I like it because it has so many different options you can choose from. My favorite place for lunch was the sushi bowl place.

Dessert

Obviously, a meal in Oxford is not complete without dessert. Two amazing places to go for dessert are Ben’s Cookies and Temptations. Ben’s Cookies is located in the Covered Market. It has the most amazing cookies. The other amazing place for dessert is Temptations. Temptations has a range of options for dessert. My favorite thing to get there is the cookie skillet. The cookie Skillet is to die for; it tastes like literal heaven. The cookies at both of these places are probably the best food I have had here. And what makes these places special is that they are both family-run.

I had the most amazing time in Oxford, and I would recommend anyone to come here. The experience was amazing, and I am so sad that it is over. I hope this guide to the best food around Oxford helps anyone who gets the chance to come to this magical place.
